Database First Approach

Apr 21, 2015 at 4:16 PM
Hi,
I tried using this in a database first approach. The provider shows up when I go to add a New Connection during creation of a new Model file (EDMX). The system prompts me for a connection string. When I enter the connection string and click ok, it results in an error - Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.

Any idea how to resolve this?

I also tried running the Unit Tests to see how everything works. But the Unit Test project errors out.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
actually the provider does not work with DB First approach.
I can't understand if it is an unimplemented interface issue (but I don't know wich one) or if it is that Visual Studio recognizes that the underling connection is an OleDb connection so it give up.
If you retrieve the EDMX from SQL than you use it in access everything's worked fine (but usually I use Code First approach so I do not test it every day).

About the error, wich errors raises the Unit Test?
